The conservation of forest and wild life is a prime goal of every citizen. The section on
forest represents the importance of forest, wild life and their symbiotic relationship
with human beings. Why the trees are important?
What is a balance diet? How this could be applied to maintain sound health?
Water, though a major resource on earth, has to be properly managed for drinking and other
uses. The water readily available needs to be purified before human consumption.
Water is also the carrier of various germ causing diseases. What are the water borne
diseases (in the tribal areas of Dharampur) and how to control them? How does a germ look
like in water drops?
What are the stages of development of human foetus till the birth? Exposition of these
facts by participatory games is quite fascinating.
How far or closer you can see? Do you see all colours or only few? Human hearing range is
from 20-20,000 Hz. What is your hearing range? You can fest it here very well.

Perception
This
gallery houses 38 participatory exhibits.
Perception is
the understanding of the world through constant interaction of the brain with the sense
organs. The early experiences, learning emotions and motivations are important in defining
what and how we perceive the world in our life. The information gathered by our sense
organs from the surroundings is processed by the brain thereby giving a clear
understanding of the world. In this process we experience colours, tastes, sounds and make
variety of observations as we grow up. Science provides immense opportunities for the
children to satisfy their curiosity and add to their experience and make them more
ingenious to interact with the surroundings.
Touching one object and many objects at a time give different experience altogether, as
brain always relies on previous experiences. Texture, sharpness, hot and cold, all are
touch experiences. In nature, we come across an enormous variety of shapes and sizes both
regular and irregular. But many are combinations of unique lines, triangles, curves or
circles.
Pin Screen provides a peculiar experience-explore and get excited. Why do we have two
eyes? Two eyes give us the perception of depth. When two objects slightly apart are viewed
with one eye, provide similar experience?
Make a soap film as big as you can. Why the film stays between the guide ropes when bar is
lifted from soap solution and the film breaks when you blow air? Colour is the most
fascinating perception but how colour shadows are formed? How coloured lights could bleach
colours?

Science Park
Almost every
child has visited a public park or a garden. But the Children Science Park of District
Science Centre has some unique features which provide the child altogether a different
experience through 50 hand on exhibits.
Swings and see-saws are common in a park. When the swing length is made longer, the swing
oscillates slower.
Similarly the off-centred see-saw fulcrum can balance lopsided loads. There are many such
exhibits to provide a motivating experience. Science Park exhibits are built with the
elements of fun and play. Understanding basic principles of science becomes very
fascinating with these exhibits.
The
Life Science Corner of the Park provides an opportunity to inculcate the spirit of love
for the animals in children and also handling and observing them from close quarters. The
Park is developed within the green environment of varied plants, trees, shrubs and flowers
so as to make an open air laboratory situation without any bounds.
