THE ENERGY

rscb_energy.gif (48702 bytes)

What is Energy ? Life on Earth is driven by energy. Every action of any kind needs energy to make it happen. Sun is the primary source of energy on Earth. Energy comes from different sources, which are broadly classified as renewable and non-renewable. From a humble beginning of using his muscle power, man has learnt to meet his energy demands from various natural sources, which include use of fire, animal power, wind, sun, water, fossil fuels etc. Energy is central to any socio economic growth of a nation.
Why learning about Energy ? Hall of Energy is aimed at educating visitors about different forms of energy, their production, practical applications and environmental issues associated. The various reserves of energy in the world are limited and we need to explore future possible sources of energy. The interactive exhibits, working models, quizzes and multimedia presentations are sure to enlighten you with several facts about energy.
What to see in the gallery ? As you walk through the Energy gallery, you are bound to get amazed by the exciting experiences.
  • The exhibit “Sun the source of all energies” dwells into the fascinating energy facts of Sun
  • Energy can take various forms. A series of interactive exhibits explain different forms of energy conversions. They also explain how energy is harnessed from the vast electromagnetic spectrum ranging from Gamma Rays to Radio Waves emitted by Sun. We cannot even imagine about our life without electricity.
  • Interact with a working model of a Nuclear Reactor and a Hydroelectric Turbine here. Explore how electricity is generated, transmitted and distributed to us.
  • Energy requirement of any country is increasing exponentially. There is a large gap between the demand and supply for energy. A section on “Energy Scenario” sheds light into these important aspects through multimedia presentations.
  • Section on “Energy Saving” is aimed to make visitors understand that “Energy saved is Energy produced”.
  • The Solar Energy corner has on display a series of gadgets and household appliances that work on solar cells.
  • We all need to realize that energy sources are limited. There are a series of exhibits highlighting the importance of renewable sources of energy. Fuel cells, OTEC, Bio Fuels, Coal Bed Methane, Gas Hydrates, Fusion energy would be alternate sources of energy tomorrow.

A visit to the Energy gallery is sure to enhance visitors' knowledge, raise curiosity and also send out a strong message to conserve energy, which is the basic need of the hour.
