| What is Endurance ? | Endurance is the sustainability of energy and muscle strength of body at
constant level. It is necessary in any sporting activity. It is more so in athletics,
cycling, boxing, rowing etc which require high level of energy. Training improves the
muscle strength. Endurance depends on storage of carbohydrates in body and rate of supply
of energy molecule, ATP (adenosine triphosphate) to muscles during performance. Sporting activity involves physical ability, skill and progressive resistance training. Many sporting events of today evolved from activities that were necessary for survival. During the last half century application of Science & Technology, understanding of human body and advances in sports medicine have tremendously helped to improve the performance level of sportsmen by creating extra-ordinary sporting goods and refining the basic principles of training. Therefore, the sporting activities of today are very scientific, complex and serious business. Every sportsman strives for better results. This is also driven by understanding of the principles of power of fitness, recognition and financial incentives available in sporting activities. |

| Why Human Endurance ? | People have experienced all kinds of hostile environments and pushed beyond the limits of the body not only to survive but for triumph also. Sports and health psychologists say that it is difficult to define what makes an ordinary person able to master pain and push beyond limits. We like to think of it from a psychological perspective as mind over body. Like, even when people are completely tired somehow they manage to find some extra reserves. How do people survive extremes of heat, cold, depth and height? For the geneticist, inheritance is all. But for the physiologist, extremism is all. | |
| What to see in the gallery ? | As you walk through the IHuman Endurance gallery, you are bound to get amazed
by the exciting experiences.
The gallery is designed to educate and entertain people and highlight the role of science & Technology in enhancing the performance of sportsmen. |
