Western
India Science Fair
A platform for students upto XII std. to exhibit innovation,
originality & creativity in the form of models or research
projects. It also gives students variety of experience in
science.
Students'
Science Seminar
Regional/state level seminars are organised by the State Education
Departments as part of National Science Seminar for school
students every year conducted by National Council of Science
Museums. Participants speak for 6 minutes on a given topic
and answer questions. Slides/posters/charts are permitted
as aids for the lecture. Subject for the year 2002-03 is "Remote
Sensing Applications for National Development: Potential and
Impediments".

Demonstration Lecture
Exciting live & fun-filled demonstrations on different topics
of Physics, chemistry and life science. Lectures are arranged
for groups or student in groups on request.

Quiz Contest
To test knowledge of students from different schools & other
associations on scientific topics, a science quiz contest
is held every year.
Vacation
Creative Science Workshop
Four 10-days sessions are held during summer/diwali vacations
in the disciplines of science, electronics, art & crafts,
photography, clay-modelling, aero-modelling, model rocketry,
telescope making etc. for secondary students. Experiments,
generally not found in school curriculum are formulated for
the students to carry out.

Drama Contest
The latest in the list of activities of NCSM is the Science
Drama Contest. It is thought that science drama can be a strong
media for science communication and eradication of superstitions
which have prevailed in our society for long. The programme
has aroused excitement and a great interest among the students.
Meet
the Scientists
An ideal forum to clear doubts in science. The programme offers
rare opportunity to students to have a face to face interaction
with leading scientists, interact with them and clear their
doubts.

Film Festival
A one month extravaganza to view films of one's choice on
science & technology. Normally two science film festivals
are organised for school students and general public in a
year, for which circulars are sent to schools and the public
are informed through press releases.
National
Astronomy Olympiad
As a part of the International Astronomy Olympiad held in
Russia every year, the Astronomical Society of India and National
Council of Science Museums in collaboration with Astronomial
Society of India organizes in India the National Astronomy
Olympiad every year in December. Nehru Science Centre conducts
the tests for Mumbai Region. It also conducts a two-weeklong
training camp for the national winners to prepare themselves
for International participation.
