LASER stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Laser is a remarkable invention of the 20th century which has brought revolution and opened new horizon in science & technology. Year 2010 marked the 50 years of invention of LASER. Since its invention, Laser has helped to bring about the dramatic advances in science and technology. The flexibility of controlling its properties precisely has given us immense opportunities to use it in research as well as industry, and even in our everyday lives. Although Lasers have become very common and essential tools in factories, workshops, offices and now even in our home, yet relatively few people have a clear idea of what they are and how they work.
In order to make people and students aware about these versatile tools, National Council of Science Museums designed and developed a special traveling exhibition on LASER during its 50th year of invention. This exhibition was inaugurated at Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai on 26th November 2011 at 11.30 am. Dr D. C. Kothari, Prof. & Head, Department of Physics, University of Mumbai will inaugurate the exhibition. We take this opportunity to invite you to visit the exhibition.

So block your calendars now and learn about LASER technology.
